We have shown for the first time that DNA encoded HIV1 Env immunogens can elicit both anti-HIV CD4 and CD8 T-cell responses as well as neutralizing antibody responses. We also discovered how to elicit antibody responses against a neutralizing epitope (C3/V5) in mice. We solved an atomic resolution structure of the most efficient neutralizing antibody discovered in the study bound to our HIV1 immunogen and characterized the atomic details of the epitope/paratope interaction. Our work was performed as a collaboration with Drs. Weiner and Kulp at the Wistar Institute
